I’m feeling a little less smug and a little more guilty whilst I listen to my free Spotify Premium trial. Damn you, Sam.
Restrictions on free Spotify accounts are getting tighter, but before we shout about how rubbish this is, it’s worth knowing to what extent artists are already getting ripped off… Artists make just $0.00029 per play, which essentially makes it similar in value to piracy for anyone getting less than hundreds of thousands of plays per month. Is Spotify devaluing music? Compare what an up-and-coming artist needs to do to make minimum wage in this infographic:
